This site is owned and operated by Steptap, Inc. (hereafter 'Steptap'). Your privacy while using our Service is of the utmost importance to us. At Steptap, we want to make your experience online satisfying and safe.

Because we gather certain types of information about our users, and store information as part of our Service, we feel you should fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.


INFORMATION STEPTAP GATHERS AND TRACKS

Steptap gathers four types of information about users:

  1. Information that users provide in order to establish an account, such as personal contact information, business contact information, and payment and billing information (for the paid accounts), etc.

  2. Credit card information collected through our site is not stored on our servers, and is passed to our secure merchant account system where it is stored according to the strictest PCI compliance standards.

  3. Information (mainly steplists) that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions.

  4. Information Steptap gathers through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. Under no circumstances does Steptap divulge any information about an individual user to a third party.

Optional Voluntary Information


We offer the following free services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:

Facebook Connectivity: We offer an option to post your steplists to your Facebook site. If you elect to link your account to your Facebook site, we will automatically repost your Steptap content to your Facebook wall or page (as designated by you). We DO NOT collect your Facebook credentials in order to establish a connection nor any data from your Facebook account.

Twitter Connectivity: We offer an option to post your steplists to your Twitter account. We DO NOT collect your Twitter credentials in order to establish a connection to your Twitter account. We do not collect any data from your Twitter account.

Google+ Connectivity: We offer an option to post your steplists to your Google+ site. If you elect to link a specific steplist to your Google+ site, we will automatically repost that steplist to your Google+ site. We DO NOT collect any data from your Google+ account.

Pinterest Connectivity: We offer an option to post your steplists to your Pinterest account. We DO NOT collect your Pinterest credentials in order to establish a connection to your Pinterest account. We do not collect any data from your Pinterest account.

LinkedIn Connectivity: We offer an option to post your steplists to your LinkedIn account. We DO NOT collect your LinkedIn credentials in order to establish a connection to your LinkedIn account. We do not collect any data from your LinkedIn account.

YouTube Connectivity: We offer an option to post your steplists to your YouTube channel. We DO NOT collect your YouTube credentials in order to establish a connection to your YouTube account. We do not collect any data from your YouTube account.

Your Business (Or Personal) Website Connectivity: We offer you an option to post your steplists to your business or personal website. We DO NOT collect your website credentials in order to establish a connection to your site. We do not collect any data from your website(s).

Steptap reserves the right to delete accounts or user-generated content at any time.


COPYRIGHT

Steptap is a content creation and delivery service. We create our own content for our company and users and also allow users to use the Steptap platform to create their own content. We reserve all rights to use both Steptap-generated content and user-generated content as we wish.

If you discover that we have posted any content that may be the copyright of another entity, or if you wish to notify us that content that we have published may be in violation of a copyright law, please notify us via email at [email protected]


Message boards/forums policy

Users may leave comments on our site. We reserve the right to delete, repost, or use these comments as we wish.
Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking "e-mail this to a friend" or "tell a friend" in various placed on our site. The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The information is not used for any other purpose.


Polling

We may offer interactive polls to users so they can share their opinions about our products and services. Opinions or other responses to polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user. Steptap may use a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual users.
Steptap may occasionally conduct user surveys to better understand how our products and services are being used. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our sponsors, advertisers and partners. We do not share information about specific individuals with any third party.


Children

Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.


Usage tracking

Steptap tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of our sites. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. Steptap may collect overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser). We collect usage information to help optimize our Service and for load management.


Cookies

We may place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain personal information although it will enable us to relate your use of this site to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Steptap uses cookies to provide functionality within the application such as allowing your browser to remember your username.
You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you may receive the warning message with each cookie. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use this site. However, you may need cookies to participate actively in message boards, forums, polling and surveys.


USE OF INFORMATION

Steptap does not and will not use any information about your customers stored in the Steptap application. The information you store in your account is considered personal and private by Steptap, and will not be shared or divulged to any party without your written consent.

As stated above, we use information that users voluntarily provide in order to enable users to participate in polls, surveys, message boards, and forums.

When we use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you.

Steptap will not disclose any information about any individual user except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.


SHARING OF THE INFORMATION

Steptap does not and will not share any information you provide in your account on the Steptap application. The information you store in your account is considered personal and private by Steptap, and will not be shared or divulged to any party without your written consent. The information you provide to open your account will also not be shared.

BE ADVISED that Steptap is a platform for creating how-to content, and that Steptap provides technology so that Steptap users may publish information on the World Wide Web. Information that you publish (and designate as PUBLIC) through your account on the Steptap system is public, and is accessible to users of the Internet. Protect your privacy by carefully considering what you choose to publish before you publish content from your Steptap account.


SECURITY

Steptap operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall, password protection systems, and 256-bit encryption (the standard used by many world governments including the U.S. government). Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our customers.


OPT-OUT POLICY

We give users options wherever necessary and practical. Such choices include:
